Before "Lights, Curtain, Action!", it takes many hands to put on a show.
The success of the Stissing Theatre Guild depends not only on ticket sales, but the generous support we receive from the businesses, organizations, supporters, families and educators who advertise in our program. Unfortunately, we do not know when we will be able to reschedule our performances of Peter Pan so that you can see the program. We would like to thank all of our supporters and encourage you to patronize the businesses now and when we return to our "New Normal."

Stissing Theatre Guild
Have you ever wanted to bask in the limelight, dabble a toe at dancing or show off your inner smile? The Stissing Theatre Guild is always seeking actors to put on a show. Students of the Pine Plains Central School District in grades 4 through 12 are encouraged to audition for our spring show. Auditions happen in early November and rehearsals begin in early January.
If you want to try out for the show fill out a Cast Audition Contract and Info form (PDF opens in new window). Then sign up for an audition time slot in the high school library.
The crew are the unseen lifeblood of a show. They set the stage, run the lights and sound and make sure the props are where they need to be at the right time. Students of the Pine Plains Central School District in grades 6 through 12 are always needed for crew of our spring show. Sign-ups and interviews happen in early November and the crew starts to rehearse with the cast in late January.

Volunteers are always needed to work behind the scenes of any show. Volunteers can sign up for one or more committees.

At the high school graduation ceremony each year, the Stissing Theatre Guild presents awards to graduating students who have been active in the many aspects of the theatre program during their years in the Pine Plains School District. These meaningful awards, which have been given out every year since the Guild began in 1989, are paid for through fund raising and donations. Each show has a program that is provided to attendees at the door. The program ads are purchased by businesses and parents in 1/4, 1/2 or full page size.

Building materials, costumes and show specific props are always needed. Please contact STG if you have any materials, costumes or props to donate; we'll determine if it is something that we can utilize.
Monetary donations help to defer the costs of staging a show. Stissing Theatre Guild is an all volunteer organization. The school district pays for the Director's salary, but all other expenses such as royalties, building materials, set design and construction, props, costumes, lighting design, printing, advertising and the cost for professional musicians who play alongside students in the live pit band are all required to run a show.
Every show is a labor of love. We always need extra hands to make a show happen. Volunteer's time and talents are always appreciated. See our Volunteer section for more information.
